Dear all,

I am currently facing issues with Windows Update.
I cannot install KB4074588. Not through the windows update store neither manually.
This happened after updating to Windows 10 Pro and activating a new key.
Some weeks later, I could not update windows anymore.
I already tried all 5 steps here recommended in the forum.
This includes:

Run Windows update trouble shooter
Run Windows in-place upgrade through media creation tool
Run chkdsk
Run DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Run sfc /scannow
Run SFCFIX from the forum

After all, I still cannot update my system.
Manually downloading and installing just tells me:

English:
"The update is not suitable for your computer."
You can find the CBS logs etc. attached.
Most interessting I find is that the in-place upgrade tells me, that:
"The language or edition on this machine is currently not supported".
How can that be with winver showing a regular Windows 10 Pro v1709 b16299.15 x64?

Please help me out, since I already spent weeks on getting this solved...
Thanks for your help!

Kind regards
Dawid

Hi,

I have already attached the latest log in my First post (was created just minutes before I started the thread).
It includes the DISM run.
Or do you need anything else?
Thanks!

Kind regards

Hi again,

sorry, I did not know that.
Please find the latest CBS.log attached after running:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Hope this helps.
Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi again,

so you mean through Windows Update OR manually by loading the kb package and starting the installer that fails?
Thanks!

Kind regards

Step#1 - Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Attempt to run Windows Update just like you have in the past.
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as the update fails. You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up and attach the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log.

Hi all,

at first thanks to you softwaremaniac for your help!
But since this was critical for me, I decided to do a clean install over the weekend.
Now, all works like a charm.
Thanks for your support!

Kind regards
