Hello,
First of all, thanks for your help, and this great website !

Im currently having issues with my computer.
Apparently i had a bad sector on my SSD, didnt even know we can have that on a SSD...but a chkdsk /f/r did the job.

i ran the sfc /scannow and found corruption in MSDTC.LOG, and there are a lot of "duplicate ownership" ...

I ran the SFCFIX.exe, but "something horribly wrong happened"

so i tried the DISM /restore health ...

Actually i dont know if its linked, i think, but you will be the judge... i'm currently having issues with my windows Toolbar, search, windows button, systray which won't respond because of an UPNP drivers wainting for restart .

Re: W10 10.0.16299 - MSDTC.LOG & duplicate ownership

Hello and welcome!

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Re: W10 10.0.16299 - MSDTC.LOG & duplicate ownership

Dont know if you can help for this one, but as i said in my first post i have random problem with my windows toolbar/systray. When i click on th windows/search button nothing happen.

I reboot after the fix just to check if this bug will appear and ...yes, i cant shutdown my computer because Task Host Window is stopping background tasks (\Microsoft\Windows\Plug and Play\Device install reboot required )
FYI, i didn't change my configuration and didn't connect a new device... Any idea ?

You have to determine which device is being updated first. Give me a screenshot of your Device Manager.

Re: W10 10.0.16299 - MSDTC.LOG & duplicate ownership

Devices manager attached, can't we see in the event manager or in a log what it update ?

Re: W10 10.0.16299 - MSDTC.LOG & duplicate ownership

There's nothing here that would point me in the right direction. At this point, I'd advise you to start a thread in our Windows 10 subforum as this is specialized for WU and SFC issues :)
One thing I can recommend is that if you are using a printer you completely uninstall its drivers and software and reinstall them cleanly.
