Hi all,

I am close to giving up and finally found your forum - hope somebody can help me here. My PC is refusing to run any Windows Updates anymore. I keep getting the error message 0x8007007E. I found a similar post here which unfortunately didn't fix the problem, but may help you to help me:

Content of C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.log

The Windows Upgrade Assistant keeps failing as well. I have tried to install from an ISO, but it stops with the error "Failed to Install Windows 10".

When I run sfc /scannow it tells me that it cannot start it. I also ran the SFCFix tool already, it did a few things, but than it got stuck after some time and didn't do anything anymore.

Would appreciate some guidance on this..

Rgds
Bastian

Step#1 - Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Open an elevated Command Prompt and run Windows Updates just like you have in the past.
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as it fails. You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up and attach the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log

Re: Windows Update no longer working on Win10 x64 14393.351

Hi,
Are you willing to upgrade to the latest Win10 build?

yes that's actually what I'm trying to do. My PC is going a bit beserk on this, on the one hand it is trying to load updates, but then it keeps opening the Upgrade Assistant, but both keep failing with the same error. That's why I also tryed installing from the ISO which equally didn't work. I would like to avoid a complete new install though if possible. If I boot from ISO that seems to be the only option though and it tells me I have to install when being in Windows...

Re: Windows Update no longer working on Win10 x64 14393.351

Yes, we will upgrade you from within Windows...

Please attempt to upgrade again using Media Creation Tool and when it fails please attach: C:\Windows.~bt\Sources\Panther\SetupAct.log and SetupErr.log.

OK, try SFC /scannow as you did previously, and when it reports the error, please attach CBS.log for me to review.
