Hey,

I am having a problem when it comes to the upgrade. The "normal" update/upgrade does not work, it always ends with errors.
When I tried DISM, I got the error code 193.
sfc found something and repaired it (opencl.dll). Now it just runs through its scan and finds no violation or error.
I already tried the MCT, but it won't work. It just fails at some point and does not give any kind of error code.


My current version:
Windows 10 Pro 64bit Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.1176)

Can you guys help me?

In the attachment you can find the current log files from the sfc scan and the dism error log.

I need more info:
Are you logged in as admin?
Have you tried upgrading while disconnected from the internet?
Is this a multiboot setup?
Where exactly does MCT fail? Prior to reboot? After the first reboot? After the second reboot?

My user is an administrator, but he is named differently.

No I have never tried it. The only thing was to try booting it from a flash drive, but the computer was still physically connected to the network.

Okay, now please try the upgrade from a flash drive, but disconnect the computer from the network and unplug all non-essential hardware you may be using.

So I did and it did not work. When I boot from the flash drive, it tells me to start it again under Windows.
When I start the upgrade under Windows I just get an error message, that says there was an error.

I unplugged all USB related. I left my two monitors (1 DVI, 1 DP) and my USB Receiver for keyboard and mouse plugged in.
Just to make sure, did you suggest to unplug internal hardware as well? It is just a DVD Drive and a HDD.
What was your guess happens on my system?

No, just the peripherals like printers, other usb devices and such.

Let's see what's going on:

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.




  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, two files should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt and Logs.zip.
  8. Attach the files into your next post for me to analyse.

only one log file was zipped, though.
I don't know, if you will need them, but I found two log files:
setupact.log and setuperr.log​
in this folder:
C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther​

Could you navigate to: c:\windows\system32\downlevel\ and tell me which files are present. If possible, take a screenshot.

Step#1 - Capture Process Monitor Trace
 1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Open an elevated Command Prompt and run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth just like you have in the past.
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as DISM fails. You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up and attach the LogFile.PML file as well as your DISM.log and CBS.log.

Could you navigate to: C:\windows\system32\downlevel and take a screenshot of all the files in that folder.

The log file became a little bit bigger (60MB), therefore I put it on my google account. Please tell me when you downloaded it, so I can deactivate the link and delete the file. Link

First it took for ever to "load everything" (up to 20 min) until it said, that all requirements are met and by pushing ok it will move on. Then it failed realtively quick (1-2 min).
