Hi,
I was cleaning up a neglected laptop with a failing hard drive. Was able to clone to a new drive. System is running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Found a number of errors when running sfc. Using SFCFIX I have whittled that down to one error.

Hello and welcome

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named CKing123. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phrase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Hello GOSUMMERS and :welcome: to Sysnative

SFCFix will launch, let it complete
Once done, a file will appear on your Desktop, called SFCFix.txt

Hey Cking,

Thanks for the fix file. I applied the SFCFIX and ran a new SFC and everything came out clean.

Hello GOSUMMERS

Although the problem is fixed, you might want to run chkdsk for a good measure after the other disk failed. Likely, the corrupted files will remain corrupted even after you copy all the files off

CHKDSK scan
1. Click on :startorb: and type cmd. When Command Prompt appears, right-click on it, and click Run as Administrator
2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter
Code:
chkdsk /r C:
3. After this is done, download ListChkdskResult.exe (by SleepyDude) and save it on your Desktop.
4. Rightclick on ListChkdskResult.exe and select Run as administrator
5. If UAC warns that ListChkdskResult wants to make changes to your computer, click Yes

You should see notepad open (if not, open ListChkdskResult.txt on your Desktop)

Copy and paste this in your next reply
