Hi,

been racking my brain trying intsall SMB1/CIFS server side on our Win 2019 server.

The CBS.log keeps referencing KB5001342 package 4619.

I can see it listed in C:\Windows\System32\Catroot

Still whenever I try and install that feature it keeps returning the same error.

SFC comes back clean
SFCFix comes back clean

Tried allsorts, always the same error.

Pleas help!

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,
  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\Logs folder.
  • Right-click on the CBS folder and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
  • Click on the Yes button here.

  • Attach the file CBS.zip to your next reply.

Hi,

No problem at all.

Follow these instructions to remove an update.
  • Open the Start menu of Windows and type the command CMD
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.
Code:
wusa /uninstall /KB:5001342
  • Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors. Or take a screenshot of the command prompt window and paste it into your next reply.

Download the

Code:
KB5001342
  • When the scan is complete, a message will display that SearchReg.txt is saved in the same folder FRST was started from.
  • Post the logfile SearchReg.txt as attachment in your next reply.

  • Press the Fix button.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally.

Please try to enable the SMB1/CIFS feature and let me know the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.

You're welcome. Glad to hear you were able to install that feature now... (y)
I'll mark this thread as solved.
