What device are you using, PC, Laptop, etc.? What version of Windows are you trying to upgrade from? I did a clean install using DVD with ISO image. I did not mess with BIOS except to change boot from my DVD drive. Are you using USB Flash or DVD to do this? FWIW, I wiped my SSDs clean before...

If I recall correctly, there is a black screen for short time and then it begins the install process. How long did you wait after seeing the black screen? Did you wait 10 minutes? I don't recall how long it was, but I think it was 10 minutes or less.

Can you explain exactly what is happening for you to say BDOD? How long is the screen black? At what point did you remove the DVD?

I did a clean boot and then used the ISO image from Media Tool, burned that to DVD, booted from DVD and installed Windows 10.

I downloaded the Media Tool 64 bit and selected the ISO. Media Tool put Windows 10 ISO on my desktop, which is where I requested it be. I then used free version of ImgBurn to burn the image to a DVD. I then used Boot and Nuke to wipe HDD clean and followed with boot from ISO on DVD. All went...

I tried doing what was suggested in the article above, double clicking setup exe and choosing nothing to keep. Instead of getting a real clean install, there was an Old Windows on C drive that had some files from my previous install. It even had Windows 7 in parenthesis next to system backup and...

I couldn't boot from USB after downloading from Media Tool. Fortunately I had a system image created before doing this and a system recovery disc made--just in case. I formatted my main SSD and don't know why couldn't boot from USB--BIOS was set to USB hdd, USB Zip, and even tried Zip. Next step...

Okay, reread the article above again and read some other articles I found and I'm on my way :-) I used the Media Tool 64 bit and downloaded to USB stick. Later I will format my hdd and proceed to boot from USB. If it works, I'll be back :-) If not, it will probably take awhile before I get back :-(

I already upgraded from 7 to 10. How do I get 10 on a USB or DVD and how much space is needed? I assume the hard drive has to be formatted to erase current 10 installation?
