Windows Explorer Locks Up When I Open the Documents Folder

Greetings, I have a Sony Vaio computer with Windows 7 64-bit OS. Every time I open the documents folder the Windows Explorer locks up. I have made shortcuts on my desktop to folders inside of the documents folder and can open those with no problem. When it happens I have to restart the computer...
