Thanks a lot for all of your help Jared. What a great forum this is. :)

Day two of the new processor being in and it seems to be BSOD free so far (fingers crossed).

However, since replacing the processor and the stock HSF with the new CPU/HSF Intel sent, whilst powering on the PC (after POST), the CPU fan spins up very fast/loudly and lasts for about four seconds before reverting back to the near silent speed. Just a minor problem but somewhat annoying considering it wasn't doing it before. I am wondering if it is a problem with the fan as I've tried resetting the BIOS and also reseating the processor (even though temps are fine).

My old CPU fan used to do that.
It's to blow any dust off the fan I believe.
If it's that annoying you can always buy an aftermarket cooler, but the choice is yours.

Glad to hear the BSODs have stopped.
Any other issues let us know.

I was considering purchasing one. Just find it strange that the exact same HSF from Intel before didn't do it.

    Thanks again mate. :)

    Re: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION igdkmd64.sys - Windows 10 Pro x64

This problem has reared its ugly head again.

However, it's been a year since the CPU replacement and this is the first instance of it happening.

There haven't been any recent changes and all drivers are up to date.

Another faulty CPU? What are the chances?

I have uploaded the memory dump file.

    Hi Liam.

Could you run the BSOD file collection app (click) and post the archived logs here?

Please provide answers for (answer the best that you can):
    1. What security software are you using? (Firewall, antivirus, antimalware, antispyware, and so forth)
    2. Are you using proxy, vpn, ipfilters or similar software?
    3. Are you using Disk Image tools? (like daemon tools, alcohol 52% or 120%, virtual CloneDrive, roxio software)

    Current configuration:

    Code:
    System Manufacturer? Me
    Laptop or Desktop? Desktop
OS ? Windows 10 PRO x64 Full retail
What was original installed OS on system? Windows 7
Age of system? (hardware) Less than 3 years
    CPU Intel i7-4770K @ 3.50Ghz (Haswell)
Video Card onboard Intel HD 4600
MotherBoard - (if NOT a laptop) Asus Z87-PRO
Power Supply - brand & wattage OCZ 600W ModXStream

    Hi Xiolee,

    Thanks for the response.

As requested, I have attached the files.

    1. Default, Windows Defender - with occasional scans using Malware Bytes
    2. Yes but only for work purposes. Very rarely connected on this PC and the BSOD hasn't happened when I've been using it.
    3. No.

    Thanks,

    Liam

Try to stop and disable the viscosity service.

I also saw you are using "intel(r) extreme tuning utility", and if I'm not wrong it serves to overclock... Are you currently overclocking?

    Re: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION igdkmd64.sys - Windows 10 Pro x64

You think Viscosity is causing this?

I am not overclocking. I installed this software ages ago to put the CPU under stress to see if it replicated this issue. It's the same BSOD error as previously when Jared diagnosed it as a bad CPU (GPU on die).

    In msinfo, components, display:
    Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
    Installed Drivers: igdumdim64.dll,igd10iumd64.dll,igd10iumd64.dll,igd12umd64.dll,igdumdim32,igd10iumd32,igd10iumd32,igd12umd32

    The dump shows:
    Timestamp: Fri Apr 22 22:37:26 2016 (571A8B86)
    On intel website I found: Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 [15.40][4th Gen] 15.40.25.4463 (Latest) Date: 6/17/2016
    Downloaded/unpacked and there's igdkmd64.sys 6/17/2016 20.19.15.4463.
I.e., it seems there's a newer version (if I checked correctly)...

About viscosity: I saw a lot of errors about it in these last days (in your msinfo log)...

There's also a new audio driver on your motherboard website: Z87-PRO | Motherboards | ASUS Global

    Thanks mate.

I am on my way to work at the moment but I will update to this newer Intel driver.

I did check on the Intel site but it didn't look newer to me. I also used their application which searches for updates and it didn't come up with any.

    Re: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION igdkmd64.sys - Windows 10 Pro x64

I updated to the latest drivers.

No BSOD yet. It's only been one instance so far, however, this is how it started before with the old CPU.

It's now doing that funny thing again too where it sometimes picks one monitor up as a 'Generic non PnP monitor'.

    Yes, it's 20.19.15.4463 now.

Do you think I should rma the CPU again?
