Last week I performed a Windows 10 update to 22H2 19045.3448. I suspect that this may be the reason why one software I have since then keeps asking to register the product when I already have. I asked for help from the product company and requested that they at least provide me with the registration key. This is what they wrote back.
"Hello

Our tools do not expire and nothing is changed with your registration and license.

If you have such issues they are cause either by a poor antivirus application that is wiping your license or by other malfunction in your system.

Old licenses are purged from the system after a major release as noted in your registration email and I no longer have access to that information, but your license is 100% valid and functional.

Press the SHARE buttons at the top left corner of our web site to share it on your favorite social network. This will help us to provide frequent updates and more free products for YOU. Thank you!"

Does anyone have any idea what may have happened? Is there a way to retrieve the registration key? Thanks.

Please take a screen shot of exactly what the "ask for" looks like. Also, if you can use Windows, see what happens when you run Windows Update including whether you're getting the Security ones.

I do get occasional security updates.

They did provide me with the registration key when I first bought it but I can't find the email anymore. This is why I was asking them for the key. On the other hand I did clone my drive a few months ago to an external drive. Would there be a way to to retrieve the key from that drive or is there an option with the cloned drive?

But how do I get the registration key from the cloned drive form the app to the current pc? The reason I ask is because I know the email won't be on the cloned drive either.

Mount the cloned drive and find it in the File Explorer. Attempt to find the key. If you can't, un-mount and look in your UEFI/BIOS. Another way is to run an admin level Power Shell command>Get-CimInstance -query 'select * from SoftwareLicensingService' and it's there. All this is assuming you never changed the MOBO. If you did, Microsoft can still help. Make sure you specify OEM or Retail Windows type.
