No I would like to stay with Windows 7. Initially Microsoft were offering a free upgrade to Windows 10 but I decided against it, after the free upgrade ran out I started to received this message.

    Try the following:

To properly disable the Windows 10 upgrade as recommended by microsoft I would advise reading the following article:
    Ref: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3080351
    Computer Configuration
To block the upgrade by using Computer Configuration, follow these steps
    Click Computer Configuration.
    Click Policies.
    Click Administrative Templates.
    Click Windows Components.
    Click Windows Update.
Double-click Turn off the upgrade to the latest version of Windows through Windows Update.
    Click Enable.
    Policy path
Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Windows Update Policy
Setting: Turn off the upgrade to the latest version of Windows through Windows Update
    Windows registry
Important Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.
To suppress this offer through the registry, specify the following registry value:
    Subkey: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate DWORD value: DisableOSUpgrade = 1

I have followed the above instructions and it has mostly worked. The issue is whenever I boot into Windows and go to Windows update I still see the error message, however once I click "Try Again" it disappears and returns to normal until I reboot my machine again. Do you have any ideas?

Are GWX or Windows Upgrade Assistant installed? If so, please uninstall them.

    Re: Win 7 x64 updates KB4343900 & KB2952664 failing with error code 80073701

    Step#1 - FRST Scan

    1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
    2. Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already).
    4. Press Scan button.
    5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
    6. Please attach the log back here.
    7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.

Install this utility and select both options: Disable Win10 Upgrade and Remove Win10 files. GRC | Never10

I have installed the utility and Win10 was already disabled.

    Win 7 x64 updates KB4343900 & KB2952664 failing with error code 80073701-capture-png

It's really strange, as I said the first time I open Windows Update after reboot it appears but if I close and open again it disappears.
