[SOLVED] Windows 10 Pro, Critical_Process_Died on startup after 1st update to version 1803

Updated to Ver 1803 Build 17134.1 from 1709 Build 16299.402 on my Dell XPS 2720 and ran ok for 4 days. Update 2018-05 installed and on restart it went into boot loop; I forced it into auto repair and restored to a restore point I created on on day 1. After restart and each startup attempt I get the Critical_Process_Died screen, it says it's collecting info and will restart. It goes into automatic repair, from here it's essentially a clean install because nothing else works but Command Prompt. I'd like to avoid re-install if possible.

In command prompt I ran SFC /scannow, completed to 100% and displayed "Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation".
Ran SFC /Verifyonly, completed to 100% and displayed:
Windows resource protection found Integrity violations.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS Log located at windir\logs\cbs\cbs.log

I have also run Chkdsk (ok). I don't know how to extract info using cmd prompt, with instruction I
could possibly get info onto a USB device and go from there.

When I go into Command Prompt from Automatic Repair, it opens with the following:

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.17134.1]
Not enough memory resources are available to process this command.
X:\windows\system32>

Hoping this is enough info to get us started.

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.

2. Copy it to your USB drive.
3. Boot to recovery environment.
4. Launch CMD and launch FRST64.exe from the USB.
5. Press Scan button.
6. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the USB)
7. Please attach the log back here.

Please note that there is no guarantee that I will be able to help you, but I will try.

Please launch FRST again just like you did, but copy this to the root of your USB drive and then when FRST opens, hit Fix. Try booting afterwards.

it restarted after I exited command prompt, this time it did not produce the blue screen with stop code but
went right to preparing automatic repair, followed by diagnosing your computer.
I shutdown and restarted but again, no blue screen, auto repair, diagnosing.
I think it's progress.

Upon the Preparing automatic repair window, press-and-hold Power button 3 times to forcefully shut down the machine. The system will enter boot repair page after 2-3 times of reboot, choose Continue.

can't prevent Preparing Automatic Repair and diagnosing.

The page I see is titled; Automatic Repair
Your PC did not start correctly
Press "Restart" to restart your PC, which can sometimes fix the problem. (just returns here)
You can also press "Advanced options" to try other options to repair your PC.

The screenshot you posted is where I get to from Advanced Options and selecting Startup Repair

In Advanced Options, I navigate to Startup Repair and it just does Diagnosing your PC and returns to Startup Repair.

But when you press Advanced Options, you should have three options: Continue, Troubleshoot and Turn Off your PC.

I have 4 options, Continue, Use a device, Troubleshoot and Turn Off your PC.
Troubleshoot then gives me 2 choices; Reset this PC or another Advanced Options.
Reset gives me 2 choices, Keep Files or Remove Everything.
Keep Files says Reset this PC There was a problem resetting your pc. No changes were made.
I didn't want to try Remove Everything.

Use a Device works but I cancelled before Copy Files.

Command Prompt works

UEFI Firmware settings works

System Restore gives me the restore points that produce the
"You must enable system protection on this drive."
I can't check to box to go to next.

bootrec /rebuildbcd

Afterwards, try booting again.
