Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name); Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete); Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply; Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, copy and paste their name in your next reply (or take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply);

I therefore downloaded the x86 version of the tool, installed it in my system and executed the tool as per your advice. There is no error found. Attached is the output. Also the Attributes section did not show any entry highlighted in pink. Attaching the screen shot as well. By the way Windows 7 includes the snipping tool to create Screenshots and you can attach them to your posts, the images are immediately visible on the forum. Edit: It seems the test completed successfully but you aborted the first time, yes? Last edited: Jul 22, 2018

The machine is a laptop or desktop?

If this was a desktop I would recommend to replace the sata cable... Try download and install the update manually http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._259a449211c1ff2f3a2d7193ea0930bd3ca334a9.msu

Also, not sure if this will help you in any way; but I had a similar problem a few months back, and it was fixed in this forum only. The details are available in this thread. Thanks, Anirban.
