Clean booted system and installed same update as last post. Said installed successfully in windows but on reboot it said failed to configure windows update reverting changes.
By mistake I clicked install updates before getting the cbs.log file but clicked cancel as quick as possible but it tried to install 2 updates. When I restarted to get back to the failed update state, it had installed one MSE update and an update that previously failed as below:
Definition Update for Microsoft Security Essentials - KB2310138 (Definition 1.265.826.0)
Installation date: ‎18/‎04/‎2018 03:38
Installation status: Successful
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3156019)
Installation date: ‎18/‎04/‎2018 20:55
Installation status: Successful
I thought as one previously failing update had succeeded then it might be worth trying them all so I did and it installed another 2 updates, another MSE and another one that previously failed as below:
Definition Update for Microsoft Security Essentials - KB2310138 (Definition 1.265.917.0)
Installation date: ‎19/‎04/‎2018 06:52
Installation status: Successful
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3138378)
Installation date: ‎19/‎04/‎2018 03:02
Installation status: Successful
Now no more will install so although it looks like things are getting better the one we chose for testing (KB3110329) failed again with the same error code as before (80070005).
Heres the latest cbs.log
Thanks again and very sorry for the mistake and subsequent digressions!
