[7SP1 x64] WU worked one time, long ago...

About a year ago I bought an Asus CG5275 from Goodwill. Cheap and old but gold in every way except that Windows Update worked once. A few months ago I completely reinstalled Windows, same thing; WU worked once. I've tried so many things over the months trying to resolve the issue that I don't even remember what I've done, but now I've found this place, so let's start from scratch.

Trying to check for updates claims Windows Update Service is not running. It is.
Trying to install any MSU file fails; 0x8000247
Extracting any MSU and trying to use DISM to install the CAB fails; 0x8000ffff

SFC finds corruptions it cannot fix. I've tried running SFC from install media with the offline switches pointed at my Windows install; it finds nothing.

There are two CbsPersist CAB files in my CBS folder which I've omitted attaching due to totaling 100MB in size; I'll have to work on hosting them if they're needed.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Sorry for the delay. Are you still in need of assistance?

Wow, I guess the reply notification email must have gone to my spambox. Yes, my issue persists all the same.

Actually, given that I have a few days off, I've done another fresh install. Sorry, I don't see how to edit a post; everything's working for now, we'll see how things are in a few days.
