OK. That confirms that it's an issue with Internet Explorer. I assume that you want more than just the monthly security updates?

    Hi,

    Yes, KB4054522 was successful.

Sorry, missed your last reply. Ideally we'd want the full monthly updates, yes.

Is the .NET Framework one (KB4049017) likely to work?

KB4049017 looks to have installed ok (along with the Malicious Software Removal Tool). Will reboot overnight.

Re: [Server2012R2Upd3 x64] WU error 80073712 (Store Corruption)

OK, I would like you to try the following. It will take two reboots so plan accordingly. Please let me know if anything unexpected comes up.

    Attempt Uninstall of IE11

    1. Right-click on the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
    2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter
      dism /online /disable-feature:"Internet-Explorer-Optional-amd64"
    3. Reboot when prompted.

    Attempt Re-install of IE11

    1. Right-click on the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
    2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter
      dism /online /enable-feature:"Internet-Explorer-Optional-amd64"
    3. Reboot when prompted.

Re: [Server2012R2Upd3 x64] WU error 80073712 (Store Corruption)

The uninstall of IE failed with the message: "Error: 14801 The referenced assembly could not be found"

The message then references the DISM log, which I've attached.

Re: [Server2012R2Upd3 x64] WU error 80073712 (Store Corruption)

This will be tough but we can give it a shot. Please do the following.

    Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.
    1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
    2. Download the file below, SFCScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop.
    3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
    4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCScript.txt.
    5. Drag the file SFCScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
    6. SFCFix will now process the script.
    7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
    8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

That was successful. Are we trying the IE uninstall again or the update?

Re: [Server2012R2Upd3 x64] WU error 80073712 (Store Corruption)

We will attempt the IE uninstall again and if it fails (likely) provide the CBS.log so I can see if it got any further. These are amongst the toughest ones to solve.

    Attempt Uninstall of IE11

    1. Right-click on the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
    2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter
      dism /online /disable-feature:"Internet-Explorer-Optional-amd64"
    3. Reboot when prompted.

Re: [Server2012R2Upd3 x64] WU error 80073712 (Store Corruption)

Well, the uninstall of IE was very quick and says it was successful!

Rebooting now. Will run the enable-feature command when it comes back up.

Re: [Server2012R2Upd3 x64] WU error 80073712 (Store Corruption)

Ok, so the uninstall was successful and I rebooted. The reinstall failed with Error 14098 The component store has been corrupted.

    CBS log attached.

I should point out that I don't really care whether IE is installed or not, but I don;t know if not having it has a knock-on effect on anything else.
