    GSmartControl
    Follow the instructions below to test your hard drive health with GSmartControl:

    • Download GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
    • Execute gsmartcontrol.exe; Let the install complete and launch the programme.
    • Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name);
    • Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
    • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply;
    • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, copy and paste their name in your next reply (or take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply);

    It appears that your hard drive is failing, we can try to repair the current issues, but please bear in mind that your HDD may fail very soon and it may continue to work for years to come. There's no way of knowing for sure.

    chkdsk /r

    Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

    1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
    2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
    3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

      chkdsk /r

    4. Reboot
    5. Download ListChkdskResult.exe (by SleepyDude) from the link below:

      https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...kdskResult.exe
    6. Double click on it to run it. It will take a few seconds to scan, then it will open a Notepad window with the log. Copy and paste the contents of this into your next post please!

    Re: Windows update problem Error Code 0x800703f1

    I keep getting this message, despite closing all windows and rebooting, then running command again:

    Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
    process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
    checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

    Re: Windows update problem Error Code 0x800703f1

    I was able to run the chkdsk command as requested but the scan and repair process gets stuck at 11%. It has been stuck there for over an hour. Any idea how to exit the scan and repair process?

    Sorry for the delay. Were you able to complete the process?

    Re: Windows update problem Error Code 0x800703f1

    No worries. I entered "Y" to repair on startup and when I re-start, the repair begins but I am unable to get past 11%. It gets stuck and I have to reboot and exit the repair process when the computer re-starts.

    Please do it again and leave it running at least overnight. It would be ideal if you could leave the test on for even longer.

    Re: Windows update problem Error Code 0x800703f1

    Please disconnect your HP OfficeJet and completely remove its software/drivers from the system. Afterwards, please use MCT to try upgrading to the latest Windows 10 build as I previously suggessted in Post#8.

    Let me know how it goes.

    Re: Windows update problem Error Code 0x800703f1

    Disconnected printer and removed the printer drivers and software and tried MCT again. "Windows failed to Update" was the message I received midway through the installation.

    I tried rebooting and using MCT again and received the same message.

    SFCFix Script

    Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

    1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
    2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
    3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
    4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
    5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
    6. SFCFix will now process the script.
    7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
    8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put tags around the log to break up the text.
    9. A file called Logs.zip will be created on your Desktop. Please upload it to your next post.

    Note: If the zip file is too big, use a filesharing service of your choice and just provide a link.

    Search with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)

    • Download FRST or FRST64 and save it to the Desktop.
      (Please pick the version that matches your operating system's bit type. If you don't know which version matches your system, try FRST if it says that is not compatible with your OS you have to use FRST64)
    • Open the Command Prompt as Administrator (Tutorial)
    • Type or copy/paste the following command:

    Code:
    dism /online /Get-FeatureInfo /FeatureName:TFTP|find "completed"

    • Wait for the command to finish with "The operation completed successfully"
    • Close the window "Administrator: Command Prompt"
    • Execute FRST/FRST64 right click on the icon and choose Run as Administrator. Make sure all other windows are closed.
      (When the tool opens for the first time, you must click Yes on the disclaimer.)
    • On the Search box (1) type or copy and paste the following text:

      hpvyt13.inf
    • Press the Search Registry button.
    • Wait for the search to finish FRST will produce a log called (SearchReg.txt) in the same directory the Tool is run from.
    • Please copy and paste the log to your post.

    Please go to Device Manager and see if the printer still shows up. If it does, right-click it and uninstall or remove.
