    [Win10ProV1703Build15063 x64] KB4015583 fails to install

    Hello,

    I recently upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 Pro. Now, Windows Update tries to install KB4015883, which fails as follows:


    When rebooting


    1. Shutdown including update preparation works fine.
    2. Update preparation on startup works until 21%.
    3. Windows reboots again.
    4. On next startup the update is rolled back.
    5. Windows Update installs the update again and back to step 1.


    How to fix this?

    Download SystemLook and save it on your desktop.
    32-bit: SystemLook.exe or SystemLook.exe.
    64-bit: SystemLook_x64.exe or SystemLook_x64.exe.

    Double-click on the downloaded file to run it.
    Copy and paste the code below into SystemLook:
    Code:
    :reg
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate /s
    Click the button "Look" to start the scan.
    On completion, Notepad will open the file "SystemLook.txt".
    Post this file as attachment with your next reply.

    WARNING! The following fix is specific to the user's system in this thread only. No one else should follow these instructions, as it could damage your system. If you need assistance with an issue, please start a new thread and someone will assist you shortly.



    • Download SFCFix and move the executable to your desktop.
    • Download the attachment SFCFixScript.txt and save it on your desktop.
    • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
    • Drag the SFCFixScript.txt file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.
    • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
    • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
    • Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply.

    Still no luck. I remember one seeing a white text below the blue Windows logo on the first boot screen saying there was an exception with msado15.dll. If I recall correctly, the error code was 0xc00000d4.

    SFC Scan

    1. Rightclick on the Start button and select Command Prompt (administrator)
    2. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

      Code:
      sfc /scannow
      Wait for this to finish before you continue

      Code:
      copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
    3. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.
      Note: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the download link.

    Save all your work and close all program's.
    Shut down the machine completely by pressing the on/off button until the machine shuts down.
    Restart again.


    Follow the instructions below to run a scan with the DISM tool and provide a log.

    1. Right-click the Start button and click Command prompt(Administrator).
    2. If you get a popup about UserAccountControl, allow the program to run.
    3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each.

      Code:
      dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
      Wait for this to finish before you continue

      Code:
      copy %windir%\logs\dism\dism.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\dism.txt"
    4. This will create a file, dism.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.
      Note: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the download link.
