Darnit, I can't edit a thread. I didn't want to bump this as I see you all are busy being superman to all of us window-issue people :) I can wait! I am just wanting to give you an update, in case my thread update interferes with any possible remedies you may have for me so that way you do not have to backtrack or redo any unnecessary work when you do get to my issue :)
And again, I can wait~ I am really wanting my windows to be able to calibrate my monitor and hoping this is linked! But I do know it is important to have my windows updated. :)
In the meantime, I have updates (to my thread).
After posting this the other night, I went to shut down, and my computer said updating. It did 3 updates. I am not sure how, as I turned my computer off and on several times that day, and just before going to sleep it decided to do 3 of the updates when I decided to go to bed (figures). I thought well let's try this again. So today I try to update and it says 53 failed, and gives 2 error messages. (Before I only had error #1 below).
1. 80071A91
2. 80070002
So after researching the second error (that i never had before), i found this and this is what I did:
- Start>Run
- type cmd and press enter
- type net stop wuauserv and press enter
- type rename c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.oldand press enter
- type net start wuauserv and press enter
- type exit and press enter
I did this, and rebooted. Then my AVG decided to update (Incidentally, AVG has been updated and always working). So, I decided for good measure to run a full system scan, which it is doing now.
I then went into Microsoft Update and clicked Update. It searched for a while, but I let it do its thing, and it found 53 updates. I clicked install. It is currently at 24% (it never ever showed this % before, it was always 0% with the green bar searching).
Update: Okay, so it said 52 updates failed. I am clicking "try again." Perhaps it is doing 1 update at a time? I am not sure. I am also not sure if that 53 updates was accurate now (perhaps it was indeed at 52 before), but maybe now it will move down to 51 or stay at 52- we shall see.
It finished: 52 updates failed, with same 2 codes above.
I will keep you all posted. I will update if anything significant occurs. And again, take your time :)
