    Re: [Win10Build14393 x86] updates repeatedly failing: 0x80073712

Hello there, I think that last post was intended for a different thread!?

Apologies for the delay getting back to this thread, work has kept me busy.

I managed to do each of the steps you described to copy the two hives but unfortunately, when I reboot windows I get the same blue screen with the same message which then causes the automatic restore tasks to try again. They also fail and it then takes me to the maintenance and recovery menu.

    Regards, Matt.

Crap. Yes I did post in the wrong thread. OK, please switch back your component hives.

Once in the command prompt window, type c: and hit enter so that you are at the C:\> prompt.
Type cd windows\system32\config and hit enter
Type ren COMPONENTS COMPONENTS.NEW and hit enter
Type ren SOFTWARE SOFTWARE.NEW and hit enter.
Type ren COMPONENTS.BAD COMPONENTS and hit enter
Type ren SOFTWARE.BAD SOFTWARE and hit enter

Then reboot to the Advanced options again in the screen where you see Command Prompt as an option. Is there a "Go back to the previous build" option?

    Hi,

I will revert the hives when I get home but as for the previous build option, yes, there is that option but when I tried it previously it also failed.

    Matt.

OK. After you revert the hives, please do the following. You will obviously have to download this to a USB drive and run it from that.

    Logs Needed

    1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 32-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
    2. Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    3. Note: Ensure that the Addition.txt check box is checked at the bottom of the form within the Optional Scan area.
    4. Press Scan button.
    5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
    6. Please copy and paste log back here.
    7. The first time the tool is run it generates another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST.exe). Please also paste that along with the FRST.txt into your reply.
