I am running Windows 8.1, legit, bought from Microsoft as Windows 8, when it came out and since upgraded to 8.1. I have no major problems running the PC, but would like to take advantage of the free upgrade program to Windows 10, which is nearly ending.
I have tried over 20 times (no joke), to upgrade, all of them fail with error 80070570-2000C.
I have:
- read dozens of forum posts
- had a Microsoft tech control my PC through remote desktop
- removed unnecessary hardware, including hard disks
- bought a new graphics card (because I was going to anyway)
- ran DISM with all parameters
- ran sfc, which detects corruption that it cannot fix, even after DISM repairs the image
- ran sfcfix, which tells me there are no corruptions, despite the fact that sfc says there are corruptions
- tried upgrading from external media
- ran integrity checks on the ISO before attempting upgrade
- repaired Windows Update (several times)
- made sure I have 30+ GB free on my C: drive
I am resisting the temptation to do a clean install, simply because I don't have the luxury of time to restore my entire PC, nor am I sure I can still find the disks for some of my music apps.
