So I've been Googling fixes for this "Restart your computer to install important updates" loop and I have not had any luck . I came across this Website with the same issue and you guys have done an awesome job fixing the issue for many users! So I thought I will finally ask for help because I have not been able to fix this issue. On June 1, 2016, I was on my computer and I noticed my computer doing updates (I have it set to Auto Download and Install) as I was surfing the web. All of the sudden, this pop-up window stating "Your upgrade to Windows 10 is ready" popped out of the blue with my only choices being to "Restart" so it can install or to "reschedule" the installation. I totally freaked out because I did not want to install Windows 10 at that time and I had no idea how it got to that point of it being ready to be installed. I began goggling ways to get rid of the Windows 10 pop up window because there was no way to get rid of the pop-up. I was able to successfully remove the pop-up window by performing these steps: removing the “Get Windows 10” (GWX) from System Tray, uninstalling Win10-related updates (KB3035583) and changing the C:\$~Windows.BT folder's name containing Win10. When I restarted from completing the steps, the computer began displaying the "Restart your computer to install important updates" message and till now I have not been able to find a fix. I receive a pop-up to restart computer to install updates or to postpone the install and even though I click restart now, it performs a regular restart but shows no message or progress of updates actually installing. As of now, I am unable to install any updates because clicking "check for updates" gives me "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because you must first restart the computer so that a previous installation can be completed," and clicking the "restart now" button only does a normal restart. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I really look forward o hearing from you! Run SFCFix SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro. Let's see if we can get you fixed up. Please start with the following. 1. Click your start button and type cmd in the search box. 2. Right-click on cmd that comes up in the search results and select Run as administrator. Answer Yes to the UAC prompt if it appears. 3. Copy/Paste the following into the command-prompt window and hit enter. reg query HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate /s >1.txt && notepad 1.txt 4. Notepad will open showing the WU info. Can you copy and paste this into your next reply?

Please do the following. Step#1 - SFCFix Script Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download. Download the file below, SFCScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Save any open documents and close all open windows. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCScript.txt. Drag the file SFCScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
