I get the Wudfhost.exe message. I am trying some more one at a time; it takes forever which does not seem normal. Should I keep going or do you have a different thing to try? I will keep trying until I hear from you. thanks again. This seems to be quite a problem.

In update history, I see kb 2434419 as successfully installed. 2434419 shows up in the list of important updates needing to be installed. I am guessing i willl need to uninstall the 2009 version and then see what Windows updates does. Your thought? Also, security essentials definition update 2310138 is in the list of successful updates and is also in the current optional updates list. this one i don't understand. Your thought? I am now going to try the .Net 3.5 I am betting it will fail
