Well.... here's the scoop. Went thru the uninstall instructions for Windows 7 w/S1 and the system said that KB976932 was not installed. So I reinstalled via the installation disc. After adding my retail product key in two places it indicated that Windows was activated, but also popped this possible counterfeit warning at the same time
Any reason you can think of that I'd be getting this error when Windows was reinstalled via the OEM disc?
I closed the error & the activation boxes and got the following, which I allowed to run:
Not sure what this is, or if it will be a problem (or is an indicator of another issue...?)
The properties window indicates that Windows is active. Doesn't look like I lost any data ( ) or installed programs and, of course, settings like appearance were lost but I expected that. Turns out I did not have to reinstall any drivers (at least that I'm aware of yet - the internet connection was never lost and is running fine now).
So I guess we wait and see if the error comes up again. Let me know if you have any suggestions based on the above that we can try to get ahead of this morning. Tonight starts my *work week*, so I'll be limited on time til Monday morning. THANKS, AGAIN, FOR YOUR HELP & GINORMOUS PATIENCE!!!
