Hi all,
I'm not usually one to ask for help but this problem really has me stumped. I've been asked to fix a netbook, I've narrowed the problem down to corrupt files relating to update Windows8.1-KB3087985-x86. Basically there are 4 .cat and there corresponding .mum files.
as a result of this problem, internet explorer is completely broken and thus dism cannot fetch replacement files. Uninstalling the update fails due to the corruption. I have sourced the replacement files by extracting from a downloaded version of the update but I'm struggling to come up with a way to replace them. I can't do it offline as the drive is bitlocker encrypted. To make matters worse, the laptop has mCafee LiveSafe installed which I cannot disable because I cannot open the user interface (They cleverly decided to make their user interface dependant on the most commonly attacked part of the OS)
I'd really like to avoid a reinstall as she has no record of her Office 2013 key.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Kev
