    Windows Update Error 0x800B0100 consistently, and Windows Update Readiness Tool Fails

    I have 17 Important Updates to install on my recently built gaming computer. It tries to install said updates every time I shutdown unsuccessfully, and when I try to install in Windows Update itself it continues to fail. I have tried the Windows Update Readiness Tool, but the installation always fails. I'm at a loss.

    Hi velocity9713 :)

    My name is Aura and I'll be assisting you with your issue. Follow the instructions below please.

    System File Checker (SFC)
    Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
    • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select Run as Administrator
    • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
    • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
    • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
      Code:
      sfc /scannow
      Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
    • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
      Code:
      copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
    • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;

    Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't contains the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

    There is no traces of SFC scan in that log. Since this log is volatile, it gets updated quickly. Hence why you have to upload it right after the SFC scan is done. You can either try again, or upload the whole C:\Windows\Logs*\CBS folder for me.

    Maybe this then? I uploaded it as quickly as I could so I don't know.

    Re: Windows Update Error 0x800B0100 consistently, and Windows Update Readiness Tool F

    This works, yes :) Alright, your CBS.log is clean. Can you try SURT again? If it fails, let me know what is the error message and/or error code.

    System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) - Scan
    Follow the instructions below to run a scan with the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) and provide a log;
    • Download the right version of SURT for your system;
      • Your version of Windows is:
    • Once downloaded, execute the installer, and go throught the installation (this process can take around 15-20 minutes);
    • On completion, a log will be created in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log;
    • Attach this log in your next reply;

    Alternatively, if these instructions are unclear for you, you can follow the tutorial below.

    Glad to see that it worked! :) Alright, do you have the KB3035583 installed? Do you have a folder called GWX in C:\Windows\System32? If so, double-click on the GWX.exe executable in it, does it launch the icon?

    And GWX.EXE does not launch the Icon even when I Run as Admin
    I also have Service Pack 1 on my computer.

    Follow the instructions under "Method 2" in the thread below, but do not disable anything.

    Remove the Get Windows 10 icon from the icon tray - Windows 10

    Do you see the gwxlaunchtrayprocess and refreshgwxconfig tasks?

    Yep I see both of those, and I have tried the WinReserve10.cmd Command Prompt method to fix this, and it does nto work.
