Hi BrianDrab, thanks for your post, I meant to post on the forum I got the issue resolved prior to seeing your post but didn't get around to. Nonetheless, your effort to help is much appreciated.
To help other forum readers, I did the following to resolve the issue :
Control panel > Troubleshoot computer problems > System and Security > Fix problems with Window update > Windows update > Advanced
Check "Apply repairs automatically" box, click next and let the repair process run to its completion.
When the repair process is done, click on the hyper link provided to open Windows Update to re-run the previously failed updates.
In my case the repair process nailed and fixed the issue for me. Yay ! :thumbsup2: It may or may not help others who have trouble installing their Windows updates, but since it is a non invasive built-in tool from Windows, I think there is no harm giving it a try.
