Re: Random microfreeze / struttering / latency while using PC / gaming
Today I tryed to run memtest for 1h and half, passing the 1st phase with no errors. Not so much, I think I should let it run for 3+ hours but better than nothing.
What tool did you use?
Check the hardware tutorials, I made four different tutorials for four different tools.
HCIdesign memtest is the simpler (and my preferred, but others prefer passmark memtest86).
Regarding Samsung, have I to download the utility software from the website? The one needed to manage the Ssd? I'm using that SSD as Image disk for Windows, not working on it.
Right now I'm cloning my HDD to a samsung SSD (bought two days ago).
Its CD installed Samsung magician and Samsung data migration.
It's probably available also from its website.
I think you can update it using Samsung magician.
It's not urgent given what you wrote.
I checked now your SSD isn't in MB QVL.
Do you think am I forced to update the bios to ver. 4.40? I've heard that it could cause some issues (overclock maybe?)
BIOS updates should solve problems and shouldn't cause them.
By the way, it is only a suggestion (i.e., optional).
I didn't understand the part where you talk about the ram. If I try to turn Xmp profile on and try to increase the mhz to 2933 my pc won't start, rebooting itself for 5 times and forcing me to lower the mhz to 2800 mhz at least.
I have a setting in my bios with which I can choose the ram speed: I set it to 1333.
I hope you have a similar simple setting to set it to DDR2667 (PC4-21333).
Hi! Yesterday i've ran memtest86 to check the RAM.
Here's the thing i did today
- Updated BIOS to ver. 3.40. For some reason the 1st boot after the updated didn't start but the 2nd one and the following, yes.
- Updated Nvidia driver
- Updated SATA / AHCI standard controller driver
- Updated the Samsung SSD Firmware to the last one, using Magician
For some reasons, I can't update AMD Sata Controller and AMD GPIO Controller, although I've downloaded the latest AMD Chipset driver from AMD site.
Here's the situation after the Update.

As I said, I will not update the audio drivers because they create conflicts with the Windows audio drivers and well, Razer's driver are not the source of my problem ( I think ahah)
Now I'm running Latencymon to see what's going on in my PC. I've been using the PC from 20 minutes and still no microfreeze with buzzing noise. It's too early to tell that the problem is solved, since the problem is very random, it can happens at every time. While i'm waiting, i'm posting a picture about Latencymon graphs. A question: is it normal that dxgkrnl.sys and nvlddmkm.sys cause high ISR and DPC? dxgkrnl is always the guilty for the high ISR while high DPC is caused by nvlddmkm.sys and storport.sys (this last one goes very high when a microfreeze happens).
Edit: It's been 30 minutes now: I've ran The Witcher 3 for 5 minutes, to stress my PC and something caused the rising of process latency (bar is near to be red, is there a way to check which process caused it?) but ISR and DPC are still green / dark green, with dxgkrnl.sys and nvlddmkm.sys the major issues.
