No sound after upgrading to Windows 10

After upgrading to Win 10 (with the help of this website), I have no sound. Things I have tried:

    1. Uninstalling Realtek drivers ( kept re-installing after every boot up)
    2. Going into HW tab of advanced system settings to prevent Realtek updating every time on reboot
    3. Tried updating drivers with generic High def. sound driver to no avail

Speakers are grayed out, stating that they are not plugged in (no matter which color jack I try).

Downloaded latest Realtek drivers from website but I am not sure how to use them to update. Do I need to remove current drivers first?

Attached is my device manager view and system specs. Notice I have something called KX Audio driver which pops up during reboot with an error message also.

    Any ideas?

    thanks,
    Jack

    Hello and welcome!

Please give me the HWID of the device that has a yellow triangle next to it in Device Manager.

Also, when you go to Sound and under Playback. Which device has a green checkmark next to it?

Re: No sound after upgrading to Windows 10

Is there not one next to PCI Input device? What happens if you try clicking on the device that says High-Definition Audio Device in CP -> Sounds -> Playback and pressing the Set Default button?
I would like a screenshot of that window please.

Re: No sound after upgrading to Windows 10

I have confirmed that you are missing your audio drivers. The PCI device is your audio device. The manufacturer is Creative Labs and the model is Ectiva EV1938.

I would advise you to try using Snappy Driver Installer Origin in order to determine the driver because it has the ability to force older drivers to work if no newer ones are available. Be cautious however and make sure you create a restore point prior to testing anything in case something goes wrong.

Re: No sound after upgrading to Windows 10

I was not able to find a suitable driver for the soundblaster live card in Snappy Driver Installer Origin. So I removed the card and tried to get the onboard audio (Realtek) to work. I was able to bring back the speakers icon (does not say unplugged now) by disabling the front panel jacks in Realtek sound manager. However, still no sound is coming out of the rear jacks (speaker or line output). Could it be a hardware issue?

Re: No sound after upgrading to Windows 10

BTW, I tried 3 different versions of Realtek sound drivers up to 6.0.1.8010 which is supposed to be Win 10 compatible and the latest.

Re: No sound after upgrading to Windows 10

That's how it's supposed to be. If you're talking about sound not coming out of all of your speakers, this could mean that your source file you play doesn't suppoer more than stereo.
If there's no sound, verify that your media player is configured properly (which audio device to use and such).

Re: No sound after upgrading to Windows 10

Still no luck. Made sure the HD audio controller was enabled in the BIOS. Disabled the NVIDIA sound drivers in Device Manager. The Speaker audio bar moves with the sound but nothing is heard on the speakers.
