Re: System Protection Tab Error / Can't Create Restore Points
Currently running tweaking.com but couldn’t run it in safe mode due to the “bitlocker filed are missing or corrupt” error message. I don’t expect this to work.
Is this a new error?
Is repair install going to work given my issues?
I think I had your same bitlocker error (when I had Win8/8.1), after I modified my partitions sizes.
I remember I couldn't even use refresh and reset.
I can't remember if you took your precautions (backups and system image), therefore my advice right now is to take them.
Why is sfcfix not an option to give me the clean files to replace the corrupt or missing ones?
It could be you don't have corrupt or missing files, monitored by SFC (i.e., Windows Resource Protection).
Tweaking.com did not solve my issue. Would you like to see the logs?
Uhm, no... I don't think they're relevant if they show they worked.
I went back and checked the registry tweak you suggested. There are 12 subkeys under the volume key that I was unable to change service from "volume" to "volsnap". For what it's worth I am now able to change one of them, the 2nd subkey of the 12.
I don't know. This should be replied by SoftwareManiac.
I looked at my running processes and there is nothing that looks out of place. What is the likelihood that this is a case of missing files rather than corrupt files?
I don't know.
The
comsysapp (COM+ System Application) is set to
manual on my system.
Yours is set to automatic.
Your
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\EventSystem] is equal to mine.
Compared with my windows services, you haven't got these ones (it could be because you are using W10 Anniv.Upd and I Win10 Crea.Upd):
Browser - Computer Browser
DevicesFlowUserSvc_4592b
DusmSvc - Data Usage
Fax
IpxlatCfgSvc - IP Translation Configuration Service
NaturalAuthentication
SecurityHealthService - Windows Defender Security Centre Service
SEMgrSvc - Payments and NFC/SE Manager
spectrum - Windows Perception Service
TokenBroker
WFDSConMgrSvc - Wi-Fi Direct Services Connection Manager Service
wlpasvc - LPA Service
workfolderssvc - Work Folders
xbgm - Xbox Game Monitoring
XboxGipSvc - Xbox Accessory Management Service
You could also try to run the following commands (in bold), especially the second one (vssadmin).
You can see my active volumes blue-coloured.
