Exclamation DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro x64 (was formerly windows 7) I've had audio and lag issues in general with my PC. The audio stutters, distorts, has a crackling sound whenever audio plays (this happens in games and with the ethernet disabled as well), and causes games and videos to lag and be slower. In League of Legends it causes fps to spike, making it almost unplayable. I've tried:
-a clean install of windows 10
    -updating all my audio drivers
    -reinstalling all my audio drivers
-replacing realtek audio with the default microsoft audio (High Definition Audio)
-Disabling Intel Speedstep technology in case in throttles the CPU
-Disabling Asmedia 3.0 usb controller (only because latency mon said its driver gave me high DPC)

    CPU:
    Intel Core i5 3570K @ 3.40GHz
    Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology

    RAM:
    8.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz (11-11-11-28)

    Motherboard:
    ASRock Z77 Extreme4 (CPUSocket)

I made an xperf file that I unfortunately can't understand, so can one of you guys decipher this? This is the compressed RAR on dropbox: Dropbox - CPU.rar

I also have the kernel.etl xperf file and the LatencyMon report, if any of you need it.

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

    Hello Araschon,

Welcome to Sysnative my name is Andy and I will try to help you.

Can you please confirm if this occur on different audio devices headset/speakers and etc.

What is your power supply and do you have additional VGA installed.

Please run the following software and post the information please.

    - Run Speccy - http://www.filehippo.com/download_speccy
    - "File" | "Publish Snapshot" | Paste URL into your next post

I don`t think we could troubleshoot this via CPU
    xperf.

The mother board is pretty new model so I`m wondering between power supply or audio system cables/amplifier.

If there is an option to connect the computer directly to the wall socket I strongly recommend to do so.

    Many thanks,
    Andy

This happens on the other monitor's speakers, and my other headset which is a usb headset. This headset is a Sennheiser GameZERO.

What do you mean by computer connected directly to the wall socket?

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

If you are using any additional power extensions or USP try to remove them for a simple test and connect the computer power directly to the power grid.

I`m checking your log at the moment.

Can you please confirm you leave Windows 10 to install drivers from updates or you used this tool DriverToolkit?

Can you also post the power supply of the computer please?

    Many thanks,
    Andy

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

I installed updates for drivers by manually going to each one I think is important and then checking for updates. For the audio and graphics drivers I instead went to the website to download and setup manually. I did not use a drivertoolkit.

How do I find out what the power supply of the computer is?

I will try connecting the computer power directly to the power grid right now, gimme a sec.

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

Okay, I plugged it in directly to the power grid and the issue is still here. I forgot to mention generally it goes away for around 1-2 hours before it's back, then the issue stays for as little as 10 minutes or as long as 4 hours.
Right now it's been going on for 3-4 hours. Do you want the kernel.etl log?

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

The power supply must be included in the warranty/invoice card.

    Should be named "PSU" .

Also please remove the manually installed drivers for Audio and leave Windows 10 to install them.

This will happen instantly on reboot after removal.

What is the monitor and how is connected ?

Corsair 650 watt is the power supply.
Monitor: Asus VS228H-P/VS228 21.5-Inches Led Backlight Widescreen Computer Monitor

Btw do you mean remove both graphics and audio drivers?

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

I think the problem coming from the power grid itself if you are living in old house/apartment you may experience such issues.

Not to mention poor wiring of older houses and apartment buildings.

I don`t think this is software problem either the Power supply cannot support the VGA and the computer at the same time, or the problem lies with the electricity in your place.

The possibility of faulty power supply of the computer or the monitor are option as well.

What USB devices you have connected may be some of them causing interference ?

But the fact this occur in specific moments narrow me to faulty power supply or bad electricity grid.

There are cheap UPS you can purchase depending on your region.

Did you add the VGA afterwards or you purchase the computer like this?

Some times they placing power supply on low cost without calculation the consummation of the computer.

If you can open the computer chassis you can check the power supply sticker with the specifications.

    Many thanks,
    Andy

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

Did I mention this didn't happen while I had windows 7? Like, at all. I had windows 7 for around 4-5 months in this same apartment and it was fine.

I have my headset, keyboard and mouse connected. That's all

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

Did this occur immediately after the upgrade ?

Do you know how to completely turn-off the Intel VGA from the BIOS?

You have installed 2 HDMI drivers may be this cause the problem.
    Realtek High Definition
    Audio Intel Display
    Audio NVIDIA High Definition
Audio NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

Yeah it's immediately after the update. Also, I uninstalled Realtek Audio and it installed high definition audio in it's place when I restarted.

What do I do, uninstall nvidia audio? I don't know how to turn off Intel VGA from the BIOS.

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

The option is in the BIOS => Advanced => North Bridge configuration => igpu multi monitor -> Disable.

You can enter the BIOS by immediately taping on the F2 key after the computer start.

Also yes can you please remove all the sound drivers installed the last are :

    Audio Intel Display
    Audio NVIDIA High Definition
Audio NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)

Let leave Windows 10 install them automatically as well.

    Many thanks,
    Andy

I will try right now, but what do you mean by I have 2 hdmi drivers? I use two monitors so that might be why

  16. #16

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

    Nope

Audio Intel Display - this is the HDMI from the integrated VGA

This is the NVIDIA original HDMI driver

    Audio NVIDIA High Definition
Audio NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

Well I removed intel audio and the 2 nvidia audio drivers, and disabled igpu multi monitor. The audio issues haven't gone away.

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

Lets Wipe the NVIDIA drivers as well. (from control panel)

Also you mention you are using 2 monitors are both connected via HDMI?

If yes please try to remove the second monitor just for a test.

Can you please confirm if you still have the lag in the games or it is only the sound?

    Many thanks,
    Andy

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

I don't have the second monitor plugged in right now, it was the same with and without the monitor. Let me check if lag is still in the game. Also, here is a picture of all the nvidia drivers/programs in control panel, tell me which ones to wipe.

Re: DPC Issues that cause audio stuttering, distortion, as well as video lag

Use Revo uninstaller and remove them all.

    Also please perform a cleanboot.

In case you see any additional drivers in control panel as Realtek or Intel remove them.

Let leave Windows install the proper drivers itself.

If that doesn`t work I`m afraid we need to go and check the power supply again.
