DPC latency issues after fresh Windows 10 install

I'm having latency problems after installing Windows 10 (audio lag, noticable but bearable).
I did a fresh install from USB. I didn't have any problems on 8.1.

I updated all drivers (including intel RST), the BIOS, and disabled c-states.
    My configuration:
    Asus H81M-K
    Intel i5 4460
    XFX R9 270
    238GB ADATA SX900 (SSD)
    465GB Seagate ST500DM002-1BD142
    1863GB TOSHIBA DT01ACA200

I also have a TP-Link wireless adapter (TL-WN781ND) which shouldn't be related with the problem since i plugged it in after I encountered the issues.

Re: DPC latency issues after fresh Windows 10 install

    Hi Ohai ^_^,

I opened up the Trace file and all I could see was that a large number of page faults (hard) took place causing the delay. Unfortunately, the Windows Performance Analyzer was showing the Process or the Function as "UNKOWN".

I have asked another senior member over here for further help.

Re: DPC latency issues after fresh Windows 10 install

Problem "semi-fixed" (diminished) by disabling USB selective suspend setting and PCI Link State Power Management in Windows Power options. Sound stutter still persists on high CPU load; BF4 + watching FullHD youtube / streaming games. Might also be related to HDD since all games are on HDD (TOSHIBA DT01ACA200 - Dynamic)
Also the picture sometimes gets pixelated while watching a (HD) movie from before mentioned HDD (not often, once in 30 or so minutes).
I noticed some bumps in latency when:
    1. disabling ethernet adapter (immediately high dpc, drops back to normal in a few seconds)
    2. manually starting maintenance (file history is directed to Seagate ST500DM002-1BD142, could also be the cause)

If needed I can run xperf longer

Since Google didn't return anything useful, so I'm back here. Bump

    Hi Ohai ^_^,

Don't you think that the load on the CPU can be the problem? When you say that the audio still stutters at high CPU load, does it mean that the system works perfectly fine when the CPU is not under load? The DPC is normal?

Could you please monitor and report the temperatures using the free tool CoreTemp? Report the temperatures when your system is idle and when you are playing BF4 and watching the FullHD video.

If my reasoning is correct, there would be spike when you disable the Ethernet because lots of applications depend on it and when you suddenly disable it, Windows/applications have to take care of it.

Also, I asked another senior member regarding the Unknown processes. It seems that the trace itself is missing that information.

If you are still experiencing problems, kindly generate an ETL trace as per the below instructions -
How to Diagnose and Fix High DPC Latency Issues with WPA (Windows Vista/7/8)

    Hello and thanks for replying.

I wouldn't say the system works 'perfectly' fine when on idle, DPC does spike, but not enough to cause (continuous) audio stutter. And no, I don't think the CPU temp is the problem because everything was working fine on Win 8.1 (hardware not changed) but definitely the problem is in high CPU usage (turbo boost maybe). Problem is actually appearing *randomly* but always at heavy usage (ex. youtube + photoshop + loading large files from HDD).
Could it be a memory problem?

PC is running almost idle when watching the video, but temps are:
    CPU 35 - 40 IDLE / 47,5 MAX
    CORES 35 - 42 / 57 MAX
    GPU 33 - 35 / 60 MAX

It would be hard for me to generate trace since the problem occures at *random* times. Could you give me some guidance how to trigger it?
In the meantime, I will record a trace while watching a movie, hopefully it catches something.
Also, I will generate a trace while running prime95, so we can (hopefully) rule out the CPU as a problem source.

    Thanks again, cheers.

Am I going mad or is there no edit button?
Anyway, here is my trace file while running Prime and playing BF. Couldnt trigger the problem though so Idk if its worth the download (100 MB).

    DISREGARD ABOVE TRACE FILE

I finally caught a longer trace file of the issue. I made 2 files and in both the audio stuttering was present.

I apologize for triple posting but I can't find the edit button

Update: for some reason, the edit button appeared only on my last post. It wasn't there on my last 2 posts I swear. Anyway sorry again.

DPC latency issues after fresh Windows 10 install-capture-png

I was trying to analyze the XPERF trace file (I am a complete beginner at these XPERF beasts ), I noticed spikes. Do you see those purple spikes? Those spikes are of RazerComms.exe . As per the screenshot, the RazerComms.exe is dealing with almost 5 times of Data Points (Literal meaning would be packets of Data) during those spikes as compared to CS:GO . Since you are actually facing audio stuttering, I won't be very surprised if this is causing the problems.

Could you please detach your Razer Headset physically and then try seeing if the audio stuttering is still happening or not? Also, please make sure that the Sound Card's drivers are up-to-date.

While you are troubleshooting, please kill/disable Outlook 2013 as we are dealing with this. I saw that it is taking it's sweet time to do things as well.

    First, thank you for replying.

My headphones are not actually razer, but I use razer software to generate surround sound. But RazerComms.exe has nothing to do with that, it's a VOIP program. I reckon the in game overlay must be causing the problem (even though it's disabled). I removed the program from my startup and will see if there is any improvement.

By the way, is RZSynapse.exe causing any issues? Its the program I use for sound manipulation.

I don't see outlook in my processes atm, so Idk how to kill it.

Do I have to run MSINFO zipper while I'm experiencing issues, or just run it regardless?

    Anyway, here is the file.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi Ohai ^_^,

Thanks for providing me with the ZIP file :)

Kindly follow the below steps -
    1. I asked a senior for help and he said that there is a high chance that the custom Razer Software you are using for Audio Processing is causing the problem. Till we are troubleshooting the problem, I would suggest you to uninstall the Razer Synapse. Razer has never been very good with software.
    2. In the ZIP file provided by you, I see loads of errors related to the DipAwayMode.exe which is a part of AI Suite III. Please uninstall this as well. Asus Bloatware is utter cr*p.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

    Hello again :)

After disabling RazerComms, I noticed an improvement, the spikes are no longer continuous, but sudden, and very short, they are appearing as an exception, and not as a rule (as before), so that is a lot better because I get maybe a ~0,5 s lag once in 4 - 5 hours or even until next reboot (I reboot once every ~ 15 hrs).

Unfortunately, I'm not able to uninstall Razer Synapse, because they decided to move all their profiles to the cloud (and not to the keyboard/mouse integrated memory as it would be logical to do) so I won't be able to use my keyboard and mouse without that software (I understand and agree it's sh*t).

I uninstalled the audio processing part of the program, and didn't notice any difference with/without it, so I might just get back to it.

I'm using AISuite3 to control my fans, but I will uninstall it and control them over BIOS and see if that helps.

Thank you again, you helped me alot.

New trace file. In the middle of it I uninstalled Razer software for audio, so I think that was the issue.

    Hi Ohai ^_^,

Yay! At least we are seeing the improvement. Are you still facing the issue? Asking because I am on a data pack at home and won't be able to download the Trace file since it is big (Yep, I am in India ). I will be able to download the file once I go to university on Monday.

In case the issue is solved, kindly mark this thread as solved ^_^

I'm still facing the issue, but its so short, weak and rare that I can't make a trace in time before it stops.
I will mark the thread as solved. Regardless, please take a look at the trace file when you get back to uni, and PM me if you find anything useful, if it's not a problem.

Thank you for all your help :)

Perhaps you would benefit from more ram. I wan't happy with
mine till I went to 8g. Your mileage may vary of coarse.
