[SOLVED] Your device is missing important security and quality fixes

I can't get rid of this message, which first appeared when I turned on the computer on January 11 2022 (not yet connected to the internet) after a couple of days. I seem to have updated successfully since then (last 3 days or so) but the message never disappears, and no idea what is wrong. I originally posted this at TechSupportForum, and the folks there have directed me here.

Windows Update says missing fixes but not what they are
My computer is Windows 10 Pro, I run Malwarebytes too, hardwired ethernet exclusively. I am admin etc etc but mostly run updates and do everything from a Limited account.
Reposting here some of what I've been telling TSF -

As I usually do, I turned on the computer (full shut down before, I never use sleep or hibernate). Signed into the Limited account I mostly use , opened Settings and opened Malwarebytes before actually connecting the ethernet cable. This message was there before looking for updates.
After I saw the issue , I logged into the Admin account that is also the Microsoft account, and also the other Admin account. All showed the same message when I tried to run Windows Update. Several times updates actually occurred (I didn't notice, possible it was the same one several times?) . Never any other error messages. I'm keeping that computer offline at the moment while I back up files, but here are some photos I took with my phone in case they are useful?

Also - lots of space on C, no other error messages, everything seems perfectly ok in every other way as far as I've noticed.

TSF suggested I do a set of Command Prompt scripts, I think to stop then restart updates, which I did, unfortunately didn't work from either the Limited or an Admin account- see the files labeled AttemptFrom... attached. Generated a CBS.log at their suggestion (attached below) , they think a problem with SSU Service Stack Update? at that point they directed me here.

Please supply the Windows 10 Version and Build. What follows is independent of this, but it's still a basic piece of information for this sort of query.

The first thing I'd try: Using DISM (Deployment Imaging Servicing and Management) and SFC (System File Checker) to Repair Windows 8 & 10
then try a "Check for Updates" in Settings, Update & Security, Windows Update pane immediately afterward.

Use Windows Update Troubleshooter.

Right-click on Start button and pick Settings
Go to Update & Security > Troubleshoot
Click on Windows Update and select Run the troubleshooter

You can try to manually uninstall then reinstall the most recent Windows security update.

In the search bar next to your Start button, type in update history, then click View your update history.

Uninstall most recently installed update, and click Uninstall updates above.

Reboot your computer and reinstall the available updates.

The update cache files could be corrupted, delete them by opening Command Prompt as an administrator and execute following commands one at a time.

Net start wuauserv

Reboot your computer and reinstall the available updates.

hi, thank you both, already failed with Troubleshooter.
Urgent, I started the instructions in the Update forum, the first one found corruptions and fixed them, now in the middle of SFCFix and it's stuck! nothing happening, no log file, what do i do?

I have checked CBS.log file there is no system file corrupted if there was it's all repaired.

No need to worry, we have not asked anything that will modify registry.

that was the old cbs log file,
taskmanager says 0% scffix

Just as a note, you should not, EVER, open two topics for the same issue, whether on the same forum or across multiple forums.

You have to run Sfc /scannow command and let it finish before giving us the CBS.log file.

to britechguy - TechSupportForum suggested that I come here. I joined today, as you can see.

As for starting 2 threads here, I am brand new to this forum and was hoping a moderator could move the thread to the proper forum. I don't know a way to do that myself. And I also don't know how to delete a thread here and start over. At the moment people seem to be answering in this thread, the other has no actual content.

I closed the sfcfix window after about an hour of no activity.
I ran the scripts

For uninstalling the last update - I don't know which one, and I am actually still getting updates?? This only started on 1-11-2022.
On that date - Windows Malicious Software Removal installed v5.97 KB890830

Numerous definition updates on that day and also since then including just now.

Most recent Driver Update was before that.

Most recent Quality update was 12-14-2021

These are the Update categories I can see at the moment. I am not seeing any way to uninstall any of them???

The other program update I can see on 1-11-2022 is Adobe Acrobat.

I just tried to run Troubleshooter, the results were the same, no issues found. See CBS logs below? Also before this I ran DISM, it seemed to work ok but nothing changed .

Hi,

It looks like you tried to install an update ment for Windows 11.

Remove Update Manually

Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt.
When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.
wusa /uninstall /KB:5008295
Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors.

First I tried from the Admin account without being online. Then, tried from the Limited account while online (making sure to Run as Administrator), same results. It seems to run very quickly but I get the message that update is not installed on this computer.

FRST Registry Search

Click the Start button and choose Control Panel.
In the upper right corner ensure the View by: is set to Category.
Select the Programs group.
Click the Turn Windows features on or off link. This will bring up the Server Manager or Windows Features dialog.
Note: This loads your components hive which is what we want. Please keep this dialog open while you perform the remaining steps. You can minimize it if you wish but keep it open.
Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:
64-bit: Downloading Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
Note: Your antivirus program may report FRST incorrectly as an infection. If so, disable the real-time protection when downloading and running FRST.
Right-click on the file FRST64.exe and choose Run as administrator.
Copy and paste KB5008295 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
When the scan is complete, a message will display that 'SearchReg.txt' is saved in the same folder FRST was started from. Notepad will open this file also. Close Notepad and attach the file 'SearchReg.txt' to your next reply.
You may close any remaining open windows now.
