Windows 7 Professional SP1

Windows Update was working fine, switched it to manual a few months ago, then when tried to update it found 53? Important Updates, applying just hung at 0% (overnight); have tried applying single updates, same symptoms.

Have tried SURT (KB947821), that just hangs as well.

SFC and SFCFix report no errors.

WindowsUpdateDiagnostic reports 0x80070057

Have successfully upgraded Windows Update with WindowsUpdateAgent-7.6-x64.exe - still same problem(s).

Advice please?

Replying to myself : followed Willy2's advice in a recent post here - Windows Update seems to be proceeding as it should now...
