Hi,

Helping son of a friend with his Lenovo LEGION T530 running Windows 11 Home 21H1 after they gave up fixing it themselves.
Unfortunately they tried too hard and ended up running out of space in the middle of either updating or trying to fix the issue using Windows 11 media (local ISO or USB)... I'm not sure.

I tried to boot on Windows 11 USB and run DISM /Image:D:\ /ScratchDir:D:\Scratch /Cleanup-Image /RevertPendingActions which also failed.
Made an image of the disk on a larger SSD and checked with rkill, tdsskiller and adwcleaner. I can send those logs as well but I don't think those findings were the cause.

I also downloaded Sfcfix and executed it but it also halted right after error 1009 and now it will not run again. Guess it has to do with the findings stored in c:\sfcfix folder?

Hope you can help me so I don't have to reinstall Windows for the pure lad :)

BTW: PC boots quite normal and runs most programs... so no boot problems!

Best Regards
Kim

Don't want to waste your time and I know it's not a production server with fatal downtime... should I just capitulate and reinstall or might I perhaps get lucky if I wait a few more days? 😅

Hi,

Run

ComponentsScanner again.
  • Right-click ComponentsScanner.exe and select "Run as administrator", click Yes on the UAC (User Account Control) prompt which appears.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Once complete, a report will be saved to your desktop called ComponentsScanner.txt.
  • Post the logfile ComponentsScanner.txt as attachment into your next reply.

Hi Maxstar,
Thank you so much.
Was just browsing through all posts since mine and I see you are really very busy... appreciate you taking the time 🙏

Hi,

This looks good, please run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Great, how many free space is currently available on this system?

Okay, then I would suggest to update, but this build Windows of 11 21H2 (22000.376) has reached his End-Of-Life date on 10-10-2023.

So I would suggest to install the latest build (23H2) using the installation assistant.

Download the

Windows 11 Installation Assistant to your desktop.
  • Right-click on Windows11InstallationAssistant.exe and select the option: Run as administrator.
  • Press the Update now button, click after the compatibility check on Next.
  • The Update Assistant will now download the latest Feature Update.
  • After verifying the download, the Feature Update will be installed.
  • When this process is ready, click on the Restart now button to complete the installation.

Yeah I also thought of that as the Windows 10 repair failed, but I'm not sure he wants Windows 11... he runs a lot of different games (I'm no gamer ... regarding possible implications ;))... but if you think it's the best option I will do it?

Windows Version: Windows 11 21H2 x64 (10.0.22000.376)

Windows 11 is already installed on this system, but it's a very old build *.376 means KB5008215 which was released in December 2021.

DOH... had another troubleshooting PC in mind... I'm also quite busy 🙈 (sitting with 3 other PC's on TeamViewer) sorry for my "brainfart" 🫣

No problem, let me know if the upgrade to 23H2 was successful or not.. ;)

After a couple of reboots and restart of WUP even latest KB890830 and KB4023057 installed with success :)
Even sfc repaired with success and 2nd run had no issues.
Thanks a mill... 🙏 someone will be happy this weekend ;)
