[SOLVED] Wondering if everything is okay with my computer.

Hi,

I'm starting a topic here, as I was unsure if there was something wrong with my computer. Whenever I run full scans with Defender, Malwarebytes Premium, and Microsoft Safety Scanner, my memory usage won't go back down to the regular idle amount after the scan has finished. In the case of the safety scanner, and malwarebytes, it'll go as high as 40% during the scan, but won't fall below around 33% memory usage after the scan has finished. I have to restart to get it back to normal, with my average idle memory usage being 17-20%

First noticed this in April.

I still have Armoury Crate installed, but I think I'll be uninstalling it soon based on advice I've recieved.

The problem is definitely not due to malware. I will move the topic to a section:

Please do this:

KpRm by Kernel-panik

Download KpRm and save it to your Desktop (see here if you must use Chrome)
Note: If the file is detected as malware it is not and it is safe to download. The detection is a false positive.
Right click on the icon and select Run as administrator
Click Yes on the Disclaimer
Place a check mark in Delete Tools, Create Restore Point, and Delete in 7 days
Click Run
Click OK on All operations are completed
KpRm will delete itself from you Desktop and you can either save or remove the report that is generated
You are free to remove any other tools/reports still remaining
Please copy and paste its contents in your next reply.

I've ran this a few times before, and when I do so, I normally check all the boxes, and delete immediaely. My mind went on autopilot, so I just ended up doing that again, as it's what I've done in the past.

I hope that's not an issue!

I’m wondering if anyone in these forums has ever had experience in dealing with armoury crate before?
As I’ve said initially, I was thinking about uninstalling it, though I don’t know if there are multiple steps to go through to uninstall it, or if I’ll encounter any problems.
I discovered today, that theres a setting in the ASUs bios that delivers a notification for you to install armoury crate if you don’t have it, so I’ll have to turn that off I imagine.

As I booted up the PC this morning it automatically updated itself too. I think that’s because it was installed through the Microsoft store.

Don’t know if that, or the driver update for my GPU is causing items on the UI to flash or not too.

Of course, this could just be my eyesight, or just a lack of attention.

If you want to remove Armoury Crate then you can use their official removal tool which is available here: [ASUS Armoury Crate] Armoury Crate FAQ | Official Support | ASUS Global

You don't seem to have any issues with your system so I wouldn't worry about them.

I’ve always been unsure if things like motherboards need software updates or drivers beyond BIOS updates in order to work properly, honestly as it has all these updates for different components, but those could be for compatibility within the app.

Its nice to keep track of temperatures and such, but I imagine there’s better apps for that.

CoreTemp was once a popular one but I'm not sure how accurate it is on Windows 10/11 systems.

Thanks again for the link, I ran it, and it seems like it uninstalled everything fine. I guess the only thing is that there’s some ASUS tasks still running I think. Don’t know if they’re related to armoury crate.

If they aren't causing problems then I wouldn't worry about them too much. If you really want to remove them, then please follow these instructions:

FRST Registry Search
1. Click your Start button and type in cmd.
2.After you find the Command Prompt, right click on it and select Run as Administrator.
3. Copy and paste the following into the Command Prompt:

reg load HKLM\DRIVERS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\DRIVERS

4. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
5. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
6. Copy and paste AsusCertService; asComSvc into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
7. When the scan is complete a notepad window will open with the results. Please attach this to your next reply. It is saved on your desktop named SearchReg.txt.

If you just want to disable them, then you should be able to do so from services.msc.

Before I attempt any of this, do you reckon it would pose any sort of security issue to not remove them?

No, they're some ASUS update and motherboard utilities; you can always just disable the services at first and see if they have any impact. Or just leave them be, they aren't going to have much effect on your system performance or stability.

Ive disabled them through services.msc, and so far nothing has changed except they aren’t running anymore.
There was another called ASUs auto update that I never touched. It’s set to automatic, but since this software is gone, i Don’t think it’ll do anything.
