Windows updates failing (attempted many things but continues to fail)
I did see a article on the curl.exe - and I did replace this back in Sept / Oct 2024 due to Qualys Vulnerability Report (which I know now I should not have done)
Error on DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth (Error: 0x800f081f)
CBS and Component Source Attached

Hi @BookerTX,

Welcome to Sysnative Forums!

If you haven't already, please review the posting instructions here, and attach the requested log files. Without log files, our helpers will not be able to assist, and this will slow down fixing your machine.

If logs have been already been provided, our team of volunteers will analyse the provided log files to build a fix for your system. Please be aware that this may take several days from your initial post, due to the high volume of threads that we receive.

I have not see a reply and just wandering if I did not post everything that is needed.
I attempt to try the update again - but still failing.

2025-01 Cumulative Update for Microsoft server operating system version 21H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5049983)
Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x8007000d)

I have attempted most everything I have found on this site with the exception of the "Fixes" that are only for the specific machine in question.
Let me know if there is something else missing - just want to get this machine back in compliance.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Step 1. Download
67139f7e69a58-SFCFix-ico.PNG
SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Step 2 Completed - Looks like it was successful.

C:\Users\administrator.ESADOMAIN>DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.20348.681

Image Version: 10.0.20348.2700

[==========================100.0%==========================] The restore operation completed successfully.
The operation completed successfully.

I had started that process already (running update) - it stuck at 20% for awhile and now processed up to 74% - seems to take awhile on this server from time to time.
I will post an update as soon as it finishes - whether it was successful or not.

It completed the update - restarted and I confirmed the update was complete via Update History.
I am going to run my vulnerability scan and probably do another restart this afternoon - but the fix you provided does seem to have resolved the issue I was having.
I will document this - but lesson learned - Qualys told me that updating curl would not be an issue - and it was.
Thanks again for your help and assistance - I will post again after my system checks.

I was able to scan and report that our system is now good to go.
I will now mark this item as resolved.

Again - Thanks for your assistance.
