On 8/13 notified of 13 windows updates.... 7 failed ...
Subsequently ran windows update fixit ... 3 of 7 updated, 4 failed...
Tried fixit again, no joy .... spent 1 hour on phone with Microsoft Technician, who had access to my computer.... connection was sporadic, but he completed his changes ... the result = internet explorer advised a program had corrupted my home page (was google sign in), and substituted msn.com as home page ....
BUT the 4 updates still failed .... error code 8020002e .... due to the hour I cancelled the discussion ... decided not to call back, as I was not confident that another session would resolve the problem ....
I did some internet research ... when I tried windows update again the search started, but automatically started at 45% then failed (indicating that the aborted update was still in my computer) ... searched and found the file, and deleted them...... next try at windows update displayed a red screen, with notations that no update had ever been updated .... error code 80072ee2.... I can still access e-mail etc ..... am concerned that if I muck around anymore, I'll have to buy a new laptop .....
