Windows update refuses to work

I can't get windows update to work. I found SFCFix on your forum and ran it. I found some problems it can't fix and directed me to start a new thread on this forum. It also said I should attach the SFCFix text file it generated after it completed running. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi limkey,

I've repaired a lot of the corruptions in your hive and hope the SURT will take care of a lot more now I've got it to this state. Let's swap your bad one with the one I fixed and see where we are:

Replace COMPONENTS Hive

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

Please download the below file, components.zip and save this to your Desktop.
Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
A window will open showing a file: components (it has no file extension)
Then navigate to C:\Windows\system32\config and rename the file components to components.bak.
Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the components file on your Desktop into this folder.
Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again and when it finishes installing, attach the log to your next post please:

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Note: If, at any point, you are displayed an error saying the file is in use, or access denied, reboot and try again.
