[SOLVED] Windows Update no longer installing updates on Windows 10 1909 (0x800f0831)

I've run through countless troubleshooting guides but no matter what I try I cannot get Windows Update to install updates successfully. I'm trying to install this month's cumulative update but it always errors with reference 0x800f0831.

This began after I got my motherboard replaced with the same model under warranty but I guess that's a coincidence - Windows did reactivate OK after that.

I've attached the results of running the SFCFix utility I found on this forum (thanks!) but as you can see it has found no corruptions.

I've therefore also zipped up my CBS folder and shared it on my OneDrive here:

If anyone can offer any help or advice on fixing this problem it would be much appreciated!

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I thought that at one point in my repeated uses of Windows Update in the past few days, I did make it offer me this and try to do it and then get a similar error, but I'm not sure – so I'm trying via the Update Assistant now instead and will report back when it's finished.
 
Thanks! The 2004 update was incredibly slow but it did install successfully. Hopefully that's resolved the issue but I guess I won't truly be sure until the next cumulative update patch comes out in July. Will report back then if any problems but otherwise, thanks for your help! :)
