Cannot successfully install Windows Updates KB3071756 and KB3060716.
Have tried sfc scannow; have tried Fixit; have tried Windows Update Readiness tool.
Have tried manual install of them. Still no joy. Running Win7 Pro 64-bit.

checkSur.log showed lots of stuff like below:
Checking Package Manifests and Catalogs
(f) CBS MUM Corrupt 0x800F0900 servicing\Packages\Package_118_for_KB3071756~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.2.mum Line 1:

While ferreting around in CBS.log found stuff like below:
\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy3\Windows\Servicing\Packages\Package_for_KB3071756~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.2.mum [HRESULT = 0x800f0900 - CBS_E_XML_PARSER_FAILURE]

I have attempted to upload the CBS folder (zipped) but it has not been accepted (it may still be too large).
I can provide a link to it in my DropBox if that is acceptable.

Alright follow the instructions below please.

It seems like all the packages were replaced corrected :) Now let's see if SFC reports anything wrong before moving on.

System File Checker (SFC)
Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select
    Spcusrh.png
    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't contains the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

Sadly it seems that I cannot download this file. Can you right-click on cbs.txt on Dropbox.com, pick Share and copy/paste the URL it gives you here? :)

Now I'm getting a 404 link (page doesn't exist).

Sorry - I did not mean to send that last message as I was checking that I had done all the dropbox stuff correctly but when testing that the link would work the cbs.txt file seemed to hang my firefox because it was trying to display the text file rather than allowing me to just download the file.
So I tried to delete it from dropbox and then put it back. (I had kept a copy of the file just in case).
Have done that and get the following link (for some reason the same as before)
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10542634/cbs.txt
Hope that this now works.

I still only see it in a text format and I cannot read the bottom since it's all blacked out. Can you try uploading it somewhere else, like on Google Drive or OneDrive?

It's normal for a CBS.log to be big. I've seen one that was 4GB of size. Once it gets to a certain size, Windows will automatically archive it and a new one will be created. Well this being said, SFC returned a clean CBS.log. Now can you try to install the updates again? If they fail, upload the following files for me to review.

C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

So we only have one more update to take care of. Alright follow the instructions below please.
