[SOLVED] Windows Update error 800F0900 - Windows Vista SP2 32-bit

Hello everyone,

I cannot update Windows Vista and receiving the error 800F0900. I've ran the latest System Update Rediness Tool as of this writing. According to this post, there may be some corrupt files that SUR cannot fix: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-update/6263-windows-7-update-error-800f0900.html. I've ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware multiple times and quarantined the detected objects. I have uninstalled all other anti-virus and malware software. Windows Defender is running, but I cannot uninstall it. I tried enabling/disabling the firewall, but that didn't change anything. The time and date is correct.

I'm lost and don't know what to do. Will someone please shed some light on what I should do next. Thank you.

It will take about 15 minutes to process. Once the scan has completed a notepad file will launch with the results. Please copy and paste the entire contents of the results and post them back into this thread. Please put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

Unfortunately, the computer is still plagued with the same error. I ran your procedure again after restarting the computer to no avail. SURT Package replacement

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

Click Here to download Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests
Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages
Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again.
When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

Thanks for that. I extracted the files to their respective folder and ran SURT. I checked Windows Update, but it's still has the original error. I restarted the computer and ran SURT again, but that did not fix Windows Update. I also ran sfc /scannow, hoping that it would make a difference, but it didn't.

I don't know if this is related, but I ran Dell Support Center, which is a software that's in my computer, and tried updating the drivers and software. Oddly, it keeps saying that it has no internet connection. I tried turning off Windows Firewall, but that did not change anything. I verified my connection by opening my browser and browsing a website, which I was able to do so. Pinging google.com also worked. I pray there is still hope for my computer besides re-installing the OS.
