Hello,
my Windows 7 system is having problems with Windows update since some months. Currently I'm not receiving any alert for new update. When I try to run Windows update on my own, I'm still getting errors on some update. And also the update process is very looong: the last time, it required about 6-7 hours to update 20 patches.
One of the problem I'm also having is that I can't upgrade IE from v9 to v11. Upgrade always fails as some other Windows fixes.

Following the instructions found on several links, I ran SFC /SCANNOW and then SFCFix.
The following is the result:

SFCFix version 42.32768.0.0 by niemiro.

So it seems that everything would be fine now.
Then, I tried to install the latest fix from Windows Update and everything was fine, also in a reasonable time. I was also able to upgrade IE9 to IE11. And, furthermore, I was able to clean the C: disk, using the standard clean utility, saving more than 10 GB that I wasn't able to delete before.

The only problem is that IE11 never starts, even if the upgrade procedure seems went fine. I tried to uninstall it and reinstall using the downloaded package. Everything was fine (looking at c:\windows\IE11_main.log I didn't find any error) but it still does not start. I'll try to investigate better this point, but if you have some hints also on this point it could be very useful.

In any case, many, many thanks for your really precious help!

Great news! I can help you look at the IE11 issue if you wish. If you would like assistance, please do the following.

button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.
