Hello - I am on Windows 11 23H2.
AMD 7800 X3D
NVIDIA GeForce 4090
PC Runs fine over all

When I try to do a windows update, I get this error:

Install error - 0x800700c1

When I try to do the "repair version" of WIndows 11 (from Windows Update) I get this error:
Download error - 0x80242008

When I do DISM I get:

The source files could not be found.

Even when I run it using /source pointing to the .wim file in the ISO.

sfc /scannow gives me:
Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.

I tried clearing update cache (stopping all services, renaming files etc.), and also I did run cmd as administrator, and all that.

I have attached a few log files from my PC to this thread (CBS, WIndowsUpdate, DISM). I have also tried running in-place upgrade / reformatting from USB and they fail, but give me no error code. This has been driving me crazy!!

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Step 1. Download
67139f7e69a58-SFCFix-ico.PNG
SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Hi MaxStar -

Here is the attached SFCFix.log - DISM got to 100% but gave this error:

Error: 0x800f081f

The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

SFC actually started this time and ran but gave this error:
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

Attached DISM and CBS log files. CBS in the zip is from before the sfc run, the one attached by it self is from after. Thank you

Hello! SFC and DISM both worked now and my PC updated to 24H2. I think everything is good now but here are the log files just in case there are any remaining issues. Do you have a tip jar etc?
The CBS log file is empty for some reason.

I got a few crashes while playing CS2 tonight, not sure exactly what is causing it. No blue screen just black screen to reboot. Hasn't happened since I moved to new case with better cooling etc.
