Hi,
Currently trying to install KB5033118 on a Windows 2022 virtual machine.
Installation goes from 20% to 44% to 100% before failing with error code 0x800f081f.
Have tried installing from standalone file with no success.
The problem originated with previous cumulative update KB5032198.
The same cumulative updates have installed with no problem on another VM and the Hyperhost.
We have run through the standard diagnostics with no success (e.g. DISM commands, Scannow, Windows Update Troubleshooter, etc).
DISM + CBS logs attached.
CBS.zip is too big to upload so public link is provided below.

Any advice welcome!
Best regards and thanks,

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Which Language Packs are installed on this server, because this corruption has to due with the RTM component of the French LP?

I expect the following language packs are installed:
  1. de-de (German)
  2. en-us (English US)
  3. es-es (Spanish)
  4. fr-fr (French)
  5. it-it (Italian)
  6. nl-nl (Dutch)
  7. pt-pt (Portuguese)

We'll need to fix a number of missing components, but unfortunately the CBS shows only one corruption each time.

Now we have another error 0x800f0982, which is also a common issue with Server 2022. So I would recommend to restart this server after the following fix and then attempt to update again.
