[SOLVED] Windows Server 2019 - DISM says component store is repairable, but can't repair

My details are in the title - noticed some update slowness/weirdness, decided to run DISM to see what was going on. DISM can't repair it, and there's mentions of a missing package in the CBS log

CBS Catalog Missing    (n)            Package_581_for_KB5031361~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.1.9
that looks to correspond to the 2023-10 update, but that update (which was installed) doesn't show up in the Windows Update installed updates. I've had a server before slowly become unable to update itself, and would like to prevent that again if possible.

This is the full list of missing packages. I tried running

wusa /uninstall /KB:5031361
but it said it wasn't installed. Going off other posts, I'm now using FRST to search the registry for this KB.

Step 1. Download
6530fbb0f4101-56f31e53c97da-SFCFix.PNG
SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.


Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
