Hello All,

I would like to thank you all in advance for taking a look at this for me, I have been beating my head against a wall for a while now.
I can only work on the server after hours so it may take me some time to try fixes.

The updates that are failing are the Security Monthly Quality Rollup and Microsoft .Net Framework 4.8

I have ran sfc /scannow multiple times
and I have done Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth a few times prior to redoing them all last night for this post.
Also did a complete reset of all windows updates with a script that suppose to revert it back to factory.
Secure boot was disabled so I enabled it.

None of that has worked. Every time I try to run updates on this server a reboot takes an hour it is running on top of hyper-v 2012r2

SFCFix seems to get stuck see the attached screenshot.

The CBS Log folder zipped is to large to post. you will find them here

Hi!

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a file sharing service. Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace and then just provide the link in your reply.

Hi!

There appears to be an error with your boot partition, please try resizing it and giving it more free space.

Ensure you have a backup before manipulating it in any way.

Thanks Sofwaremaniac

I will give it a shot when I have a maintenance window. And I will let you know how that goes

Softwaremaniac ... that is not an easy partition to expand as I can't do it with normal windows tools ... would you mind explaining why you think why that is causing the problem .. a clean install of server 2012r2 defaults to that size?

This proves there is an issue with it. :-) The update process is being reverted at 94% due to this. See the BFSVC referenced.

It technically is possible that third-party AV solution is causing this or another OS if this is a dual boot system.

I finally got a window to try increasing the boot partition size .. increased it to 400mb .. and the server finally completed the update.

Thanks you softwaremaniac, you saved me from a server rebuild.
