Windows 8.1 x64, hangs for seconds on boot, event log = missing drivers?

Hello guys,

my problem as follows:

I start the PC, as soon as I see my desktop the PC kind of "hangs" for 5-10 seconds, then it continues to load programs, display color correction files etc. I took a look into the event log and it says something about it missing drivers, but I have no idea what the devices are. Maybe you guys can help me out? I appreciate any tip! Thank you!

My event log is in the attachment, here are some screenshots:

I really wished I knew these cryptic names.

Thanks in advance guys!

Hi Megagoth1702. :smile9:
In your BIOS settings, is secure boot enabled? And TGC/TPM support?

Hey,
thanks for your reply!

Secure boot is disabled, I can't find anything about TGC/TPM in there. Oh snap, I should put my hardware into the OP. Mainboard is asrock z68 pro3 gen3.

It seems this happens with crucial SSDs: did you have got one?
Also, did you get BSODs?
Fast suggestion: disable (windows) fast boot (from Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options - Choose what the power buttons do, a.k.a System Settings, change settings that are currently unavailable), shutdown/restart your machine and see if the problem disappears.
You can re-enable it later.

Thanks for the replies guys!
(What's OP??)
Can't you find anything in all bios settings?
Or only in its secure boot options?
OP = Original Post, the first post of a thread. I am unable to edit it unfortunately.

There is nothing like this in the BIOS settings. Here is a video of my BIOS settings.

Yeah I have a crucial SSD.
I disabled fast-boot and rebooted, same procedure. 10 seconds hang (tried starting task manager from the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, didnt work until the "hang" was over).

Are you using some sort of encryption on that drive? (e.g., bitlocker)

From an elevated command prompt, launch:
Code:
gpresult /z > "c:\users\%username%\desktop\gpresult.txt"
You should find a txt on your desktop: paste the result here (possibly using the show/hide button).

It seems no group policies settings have been changed.
Are you using some sort of encryption on that drive? (e.g., bitlocker)
Are you using Acronis software?
What firewall are you using?
What antivirus are you using?
Model of your crucial SSD?
Have you already check if the problem remains or disappears with the clean boot (click)?
And with safe mode (click)?
Have you already done a check with the SFC tool (sfc /scannow)?
And a check-disk (chkdsk from command line a.k.a. ScanDisk from windows GUI)?
You can run this (quick) command, from an elevated command prompt, and report the result here (it should create health.txt on your desktop):
Code:
dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth > "%userprofile%\desktop\Health.txt"
Just for your information, there are threads on the crucial forum with exactly the same error you are getting, with various resolutions (including windows reinstall changing some settings in the BIOS).

Hey, thanks for your help!

The problem persists with a clean boot. It disappears when I use safe mode, the desktop and all systems are available instantly as soon as I see them, without any 10sec hang like with normal and clean boot.
I am not using Acronis software.
I'm using the default windows firewall.
Antivirus = Windows Defender
Crucial SSD is: ct480m500ssd1.
I know the SFC and DISM tools, ran both, no errors/reports.

Yeah I know about these threads but I don't think that the EnhancedStorage type error is the problem. Even when I start in safe mode this error appears, the boot speed is not affected. By the way - I have a secondary partition on the same SSD running a very clean, just installed & otherwise untouched Windows 8.1 (for special performance tests) and it also boots instantly. It also shows the same errors about the EnhancedStorage and missing drivers.

Thanks!

From an elevated command prompt, launch:
Code:
bcdedit
Then:
Code:
bcdedit /set bootmenupolicy legacy
Then:
Code:
bcdedit
You should get something like (see bold strings):

Restart your PC and see if you are able to get windows advanced boot options (SAFE MODE included!) with the good old F8 key.

If yes, read and try the guide about Driver Verifier - BSOD related - Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 & Vista (click).
You'll need to go to safe mode to reset verifier settings, if you'll get a very fast BSOD after you logged into windows.

Hey guys,

I just installed Windows 10 and was really careful about what programs I put on it.

After I installed O&O Defrag I started having issues like delayed boots and troubles with coming back from sleep and hibernation.

So yeah, although I still get missing driver stuff errors in the eventlog but I dont have any issues anymore, that I can feel. Nice. Finally found the culprit!
