Windows 8.1 will not update. Error 582

Hello, I am hoping after days and days of trying to repair my Windows update that someone can help me. I have tried so many fixes I can't list them all. I even tried windows tech support and the agent was useless and disappeared on me. Is there anyone that can walk me through how to fix this once and for all. I've tried this as one attempt to no avail. Windows Updates are failing on my Windows 8.1 system
I keep getting the error code 582 Illegal Characters 0xFFFF and 0x FFFE. No matter what I do.
Please help! PS. I do not have windows disks. Windows is embedded in the computer. I do have the product code but I don't want to reinstall and lose all of my personal data.

SFCFix and move the executable to your desktop.
Double-click SFCFix.exe to run the tool. A dialog may come up asking for approval. If it does go ahead and allow.
On completion a log file (SFCFix.txt) will be opened. Copy and Paste its content into your next reply.
