For quite some time, I have not been able to update Windows 8.1 because of the error "80073712". Because of the irresponsible person I am, that didn't really bother me until Roblox broke and I couldn't launch it anymore. I've since fixed Roblox with the help of their support team (by uninstalling it and deleting the folder using "rmdir /s Roblox" through the command prompt), but now launching it causes my computer to give me the blue screen of death with the error "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL", which is a whole different issue - I'd like to tackle this one first. I have a slight suspicion that the blue screens of death when launching Roblox are because of system corruptions (I copied my old hard drive that was failing using Clonezilla, which might've transferred some corrupted files). Because of that, I went on a whole journey and here it is:
  • I've run DISM (with /checkhealth, /scanhealth, and /restorehealth) numerous times, the latter parameter of which is giving me the "0x800f0906" error, but I did find out that there are 72 corruptions, which is many! I've also tried using a Windows 8.1 .iso image as /source (with /limitaccess), which didn't help at all (most likely since the versions didn't match),
  • I've run SFC with /scannow, which doesn't find any corruptions,
  • I've tried using SFCFix, which didn't help by itself. I did use the "Trace::" script (the example of which I saw in another thread while trying to find solutions) to find the source of the corrupted files - it seems to be just three updates: KB4503276, KB4578953, and KB3124275. I've included the "SFCFix.txt" file with those results. Also, now SFCFix doesn't find any errors for whatever reason (maybe because of the messing described below) - I've included the "SFCFixNow.txt" file with these results,
  • I also, being desperate when trying to avoid making a thread, used an example of one of another user's solution (the "PowerCopy::" SFCFix.zip file) to try to fix a single corruption by installing the same file (but an earlier version of it) to replace the corrupted one, and then later putting the earlier-version file into the same-name-as-corrupted-file folder, which thankfully didn't work. I will not do that again,
  • In the middle of me writing this message, my computer crashed because of "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" (fun), so now you can have my "components"! :)
I think that's all...

I actually tried to repair the corruptions myself using this tutorial I found here and the "PowerCopy::" script example from another person's solution (note that I used the correct files this time, not an older version of the same file, so I guess I didn't break my promise), since that is what I wanted to do originally, to an almost full success - now there's only 4 corruptions remaining, 2 of which are new (I've attached the current DISM file just in case).

I tried following your instructions with update KB4569768 first (which so far hasn't caused any trouble), but it told me that that update wasn't installed. Since there's still one clingy corruption from update KB4578953 ("Trace::" SFCFix.txt attached), I still decided to try manually uninstalling it too as you instructed, but I got the same error - "update not installed".

P.S.: I have personally not been able to find update KB3124275 from that one corruption on the Microsoft Update Catalog website, so that's still a thing. Also, the "Roblox crashing my computer" issue (even with all of this done) still hasn't resolved itself, so that's nice!

I did everything just like you said and now, just like after I fixed most of the corruptions myself but forgot to say, Windows Update gives me the "80070002" error.
I've also decided to run "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth" just in case (even though you didn't tell me to - if that broke anything, then it's fully my fault), the results of which I've included along with cbs.log in the .zip file.

I did everything the way you described again, but the Windows Update error remains and is the same: "80070002". I again ran "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth" - the results of that are included in the .zip file. Also, I'm from Russia, so maybe that "80070002" error is supposed to be there? I hope not, though.

The error has nothing to do with the fact your from Russia. Windows Update encounters a problem and throws an error. We just try to fix that and resume until Windows Update is happy.

The "80070002" error persists. And there's 3 corruptions now (DISM results included). It seems my computer is like a stubborn child that comes up with new excuses not to do something. "No, no I don't wanna! I don't wanna go to Update school! A different part of my files is corrupted now!"

Error "80070002", same thing, yada yada. I was hoping it'd be fixed, since it took Windows Update, like, 3 hours to check if there were any new updates this time, but no.
It it common for one corruption to arise after another's fixed?
